In this practical 17-month training you will get an extensive overview about different Qigong forms and styles. All styles work in a healing way for the body, the mind and the soul. Every style has indeed its own centre of gravity and thus displays a different working. While you practice different forms and styles, the essence of Qigong, placed against a background of Taoism, will be easier to access for you.
While the Shengzhen-Qigong with smooth, light movements opens our heart for love and compassion, the Shaolin-Sehnen-Qigong strengthens the bones, teeth and body power, helps Crane Qigong us to come back to a condition of „Lightness of Being“, while the Qigong of the Swimming Dragon works to rejuvenate, because it supports the rejuvenation of the cells and strengthens the libido.

The training includes a big practical part with Qigong and Meditation techniques, the medical effects from the movements, basic concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and basic knowledge of either Taoist as well as Buddhist philosophy. You will receive an extensive tool so you can compose a suitable exercise program for different target groups. For Carsten Dohnke the priority lies in the high professional skills. He transfers this in a compelling, joyful and enthusiastic way.

“To pass this on, to learn this is a great gift and an investment for the future.”

Trainer/Teacher: Carsten Dohnke, born in 1963, international certified instructor for Chi Kung, Tai Chi and Meditation, has 25 years of experience with the Tao Practices. His knowledge includes Chi Kung, Sexual Tao Practices, Inner Alchemy, Meditation, Martial Arts (Kung Fu, Wushu, Tai Chi), ancient Chinese healing and the fundamental principles of Chinese medicine.

He lived for four years in Taiwan and learned the martial arts and meditation from ancient Shaolin masters. Carsten is a Senior- & Inner Alchemy instructor and for years now he is the assistant and translator for the well-known Tao Master Mantak Chia (founder of the Universal Healing Tao System). He also is a loyal student with Master Li Jun Feng (founder of the Shengzhen Chi Kung, Trainer of the famous Beijing Wushu Team from the people’s republic of China).

At the University of Hamburg he studied Chinese philosophy, with the emphasis on Taoism and Buddhism. He completed his study with a scientific paper on the “Chi in the ancient China”. To get a better understanding about the human body, he focused his attention for 2 years on Anatomy, Physiology and traditional Chinese medicine. Carsten has published several articles about Chi Kung and Tao, expansive writings about his work have been published in Stern and the Cosmopolitan and other magazines. At the time he occupies himself mainly with the Practices of the Healing Tao and Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong (see Shengzhen Chi Kung). Both systems supplement each other on many levels.
His interest goes mainly to the connection between movement and silent meditation. In recent years his focus for working with energies has shifted more and more to the opening of the heart and to a deeper understanding of meditation.

Carsten travels often to Asia, to go and meditate in Thailand in Buddhist monasteries or to visit, together with his wife Weihua, Chinese healers, Masters or sacred places in China. Inspired by the close contact he has with his teachers Carsten is trying to pass the essence of Taoism in a simple and lively manner – adapted to the Western way of living. He teaches in Hamburg and throughout Europe.

Comments of participants to the first training 2005-autumn 2006:

"It is an absolute new life feeling for me, being in contact with my own center and inner power and at the same time standing in the world with an open heart.“

"A fascinating journey inside."

"I didn’t expect that besides the technical learning of forms there would be such a profound inner process, this has really changed my life positively afterwards. The meditation aspect in the training especially has given me this year a lot of power, peace and lightness. I was able to release a lot of my old life patterns."

„Meanwhile I notice my center very clear and I’m able to hold on to it. The feeling of inner peace and security settles in quite quickly. I think often to the words of Carsten: The Kuanyin form heals old trauma and the Crane gives strength to all levels of emotions. …and I have never before directed cosmic energy so passionately into my organs as I do now! I could feel how I was emotionally growing up, I will follow my heart desires now and I will stand up for myself. Also my middle age tantrums are behind me.“

"Wit a lot of curiosity I started the Qigong Training with Carsten Dohnke. I was interested for learning the exercises, which improve the sensation of the body on the one side and on the other side also offer more psychic stability, harmony and balance. During the training we learned that Qigong is exactly doing this, but it includes so much more, it is part of the Taoism, it is a holistic concept of life and besides the exercise it also teaches about nutrition, medicine and healing, meditation, the working of natural forces and philosophy.
the training finds a really successful balance between the different Qigong exercises, meditation and highly interesting, theoretical subject material about Taoism. In Taoism you can find a lot of parallels with the modern discoveries in physics (quantum physics, the origin of the cosmos and life, neurobiology). The Taoism is able to put all these concepts in a holistic context. Carsten brings it very clearly, easy to understand and in a smooth way, so you can enjoy to see the world, if you choose to do so, in different pictures. All brilliant things in life are simple, but it still is special to learn the basic ideas of Taoist healing and adapt them.
So finally I did not only learn some beautiful but partly also demanding Qigong exercises during the training (very important), but also that Qigong includes so much more which can change us from our center (from which I have at the moment only a slight presumption to be honest, during the training it has manifested itself more and more though) and we still can learn a lot about ourselves and our world view.

"Thank you very much again for this wonderful training.
It has really taught me a lot, a lot more that I could think when I started this."

"The daily practicing since the Qigong Training gives me the power, the flexibility and the resignation to participate even more in all the things of life. For my profession my hands get even more inner power to help people.
Earlier I tried to achieve more flexibility with „normal gymnastic“ but this always gave me more pain. My goal was to achieve stability by fixating a static posture – but this restricted me more and more. I thought “I have to hold on to my power” so it would be available for me – now I have notices that by letting go of it, it is still available for me, even with more lightness then before. "

“I also had the pleasure of participating in your training group for Qigong Teacher in the beautiful Yogacenter of Ilona Strohschein in Neustaft/Sachsen. It was an enrichment for me on many levels, learning the forms – which sometimes brought me to the border of my bodily possibilities – or your authentic transfer of philosophy and wisdom from the far east, but also being together with you and the group during many days. Thank you very much!"

Qigong and Cooking

What do Qigong and Cooking have in common?  Carsten Dohnke, Qigong Trainer from Hamburg, surprised us with this comparison. In the spring in 2008 there will be a unique training in Frankfurt under his supervision.

Qigong means „The Art to feed your own life force “.
Practicing Qigong is similar to cooking. For a good meal I need various ingredients, that can be mixed and that nicely work together. Then the meal will not only taste good, but it can be adapted to everyone’s wishes.

In Qigong we distinguish three major “ingredients”: body exercises, working with imagination and silent meditation. Through the combination of these we develop inner power, the flow of life energy is activated, cells, organs and the immune system are positively influenced and also all emotions like anger or fear can be processed. On top of that Qigong establishes a mood of inner peace. If I understand how these ingredients work together, I can easily find out what’s wrong with me or others. This helps me as a teacher to build a seminar of guide someone.

Qigong is based on four principles, which explain how you best can „cook“:

1. letting go and relaxing
2. find your own center
3. be natural -  which also means let go of excesses and cooperate with the forces of nature and
4. melting together with life – this last principle is the most important one. This leads to more deep power and inner peace.

Qigong is part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine. If you understand the principles of TCM – which is a large part of my training – it will immediately become clear what the different forms and styles are affecting. On top of that the effects from the exercises can be enhanced by using Chinese herbs of special nutrition.

It is not the method, but the human being that stands out. People that want to learn Qigong, have different goals in mind. With other words: they order different meals. If I understand the working of the ingredients and if I’m also a good cook, I will not have to hang on to one single meal. In China a good cook not only serves what you have ordered. He sees from his guest what this person lacks and like magic he works out an additional dish. This is where the real art of Qigong starts!

Acupressure for daily use with Weihua Dohnke

Building up the meridian system – 20 important acupressure points - Discover the inner pharmacy of the body - Self-treatment for well-being & vitality

Course Content: The acupuncture points of our body contain the healing power of a “inner pharmacy”. By softly massaging, scraping, warming and using needles, we can activate the healing power of the individual points – in this way we strengthen our life-power, we activate the immune system and initiate an inner self-healing process.

We learn the most important acupressure points, basic hand positions for acupressure, moxa techniques, scraping and the Cherry blossom needle technique. Moreover you will become familiar with the meridian system. Special tips from the “inner pharmacy” help us in self-treating simple complaints like: back pain, headache, depression, hair loss etc. but also for an inner beauty and an optimal energetic condition.

Nutrition according to YIN/YANG with Weihua Dohnke

Building up life-power – the balance from Yin and Yang - the energetic value of important foods – simple recipes for tea and herbs for daily use.

From the viewpoint of Traditional Chinese Medicine all food can function as a healing substance. The right food can not only harmonize the relation between Yin and Yang in the body to keep our vitality throughout our life, but also reverse and heal illness, or support healing.

The main item in this intensive course is to offer to each participant the ABC of Chinese Nutrition, so by making small changes to his eating habits every day he can strengthen his life-power and find an inner balance.

We cook special herbal tea for building the energy and for the balance between the Yin and Yang powers.

Every day of the course short meditations, Qigong exercises and self-massage for metabolic activation and rejuvenation will be integrated in between the lessons.
